The dog show has been organized by Dogs camp for the last two years (see website below). Dogs camp is a local organisation devoted to the happy co-existence of humans and dogs in the neighborhood. They try to ensure that all the local dogs are under control, have a good time, get on with the other dogs and don’t upset the residents, especially the ones who don’t love dogs.

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions among people and pets

An extra five pounds on a dog that should weigh 17 pounds or an extra three pounds on a cat that should weight 10 pounds is similar to an extra 50 pounds on a person who should weigh 170 pounds — that's a lot of pounds for people and pets!

The health risks associated with obesity are similar in people and pets. Overweight people and pets are at higher risk of developing health problems such as heart disease, skeletal problems, breathing problems, diabetes and arthritis

Obesity can significantly reduce life expectancy in pets and people
Facts on Pets

50% of pets in the United States are overweight or obese — that equates to 60 million pets

10% over ideal body weight is considered overweight and 20% over ideal body weight is clinically defined as the onset of obesity. The risk of health problems is significantly increased in overweight and obese pets3

The risks of obesity also increase in pets between the ages of 6 to 12 years and in pets that have been spayed or neutered.3

Some breeds of dogs, such as Labrador Retrievers, Cairn Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, Long-haired Dachshunds, Shetland Sheepdogs, Basset Hounds and Beagles and mixed-breed cats have a greater tendency to gain weight and become obese
